Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero wants his Senator Mike Sonko and gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth arrested over Sunday’s Dagoretti gun drama.
The Governor has accused Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery of failing to take action against the Jubilee leaders.
"Nkaissery has been the loudest CS but he has been quiet on the Sunday events. He must take action. We cannot allow such stupid acts in Nairobi," Kidero said on Thursday when he visited Dagoretti to inspect ongoing road projects.
Sunday, youths allied to Sonko and Kenneth engaged in a fight during a football match in Dagoretti.
Gunshots rent the air during the incident, as the politicians’ bodyguards tried to calm the rowdy youths.
No one was reported injured following the incident.
Kenneth condemned the incident, terming it unfortunate and unacceptable.
"You have seen what has happened. This is unacceptable and should not be allowed to happen again," said the former Gatanga MP.
Senator Sonko defended his presence at the tournament, saying he and area MP Dennis Waweru attended as Nairobi leaders.
Sonko said he had gone to present prizes to the winning team.
